Biomass trade

Promotion of biomass trade and sustainability

CKade and BFP International launched the Rotterdam Biomass Commodities Network in 2009. RBCN is an informal platform that brings together existing and new commercial enterprises and institutions in the biomass supply chain to exchange information and establish new alliances. Started in 2009, RBCN quickly developed into a recognized event for the biomass sector and makes an important contribution to a positive development of the biomass trade and industry in Rotterdam. For more information please visit the RBCN website www.rbcn.nl.

Biomass use for renewable energy production and bio-based products is one of the most important means for the city of Rotterdam to achieve its ambitious climate programme targets. Promoting the international trade in biomass will increase the import and processing of biomass and strengthen the position of the Port of Rotterdam as biomass main port for Europe. CKade performs a survey to explore the possibilities for a biomass commodities exchange to further support Rotterdam’s ambitions.
